Thank you for your interest in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Kansas! KU prides itself in maintaining open and diverse campus and classroom atmospheres which facilitate creativity and an uncommon breadth of learning. The Department of Mechanical Engineering strives to produce an engineer knowledgeable in the latest advances of his or her field AND in the world around him or her.

Professors and staff members are excited about their professional interests and are ready to share their knowledge with students. Degree requirements include over 35 credit hours devoted to student-chosen electives in liberal arts, sciences and engineering. Various social and academic student organizations, highly active intramural sports programs and exposure to plays, concerts and lectures add up to an amazing amount of opportunities for growth and learning available outside of the classroom!
